Some of the brightest minds of our generation sharing their insight on the world? Definitely something most people would want to hear. That’s what makes TED TED Talks For Facilities Managers On The iOffice BlogTalks so valuable, seeing things from a different perspective from people who really know what they’re talking about. There are hundreds of talks out there on topics from everything to volunteering to fixing the way you sleep. Here are three we found that both office and facilities managers shouldn’t miss! We posted this blog back in 2015 and thought we should update with some newer TED Talks!

Ashok Krish | The Future of Workspace

Ashok points out, “we live in a unique era.” The rate at which technology is being created and updated is exponential. Today, mobile phones and Instagram are more important than toothbrushes and The New York Times. Workplaces are now being designed with robots in mind, like Amazon warehouses. There are some things that humans will always be better at, but there are also things that robots will always be better at.

“Today’s professions are not designed for today’s world.”

Open source knowledge is helping change that. Do you know what the future of work is?

Stacey Ferreira | The Evolution of Work

Today we’re transitioning from the office age to the creativity age. Do people work anymore? The answer is yes, but there’s a catch. People are now afforded more flexible schedules. The workforce today gets to pick where and when they work. While those who are now retired may have worked one job their entire career, today’s employees have several jobs before even hitting 30. Today’s norm is hybrid in a sense – working multiple jobs at one time.

“Today, work seems to follow us around.”

The catalyst for this change? Technology.

Rocío Lorenzo | How Diversity Makes Teams More Innovative

Is diversity linked to innovation these days? Yes – diversity is in fact linked to innovation and creativity. Diversity is measured by country of origin, age, and gender along with other factors. Data from Rocío’s research proved that more diverse companies were in fact more innovative.

“Data shows for gender diversity to have an impact on innovation, you need to have more than 20% women in leadership.”

Where does your company stand?
