We’ve updated our annual list of must-read workplace management blogs yet again from 2016 and 2017. There was some stiff competition this year, as we’ve seen the market for educational content in the FM industry spike, especially within the last few years. Here are our top eight workplace blogs that produce thoughtfully curated articles that will surely spark interest in every office worker, and especially the workplace leader. While we’ve included blogs that cover topics ranging from AI to workplace design, our annual list is meant to be a starting point for your educational journey. Enjoy!

Blueprint by CBRE

While CBRE itself certainly doesn’t need an introduction to anyone reading, this is Blueprint’s first time appearing on our list. This organization believes “real estate sits at the heart of how people work, live and thrive” and their blog couldn’t be more supportive of that. Here you’ll find articles that examine the built environment’s potential and impact on those it serves, which is anyone who has ever worked in an office. They’ve broken down their articles into categories covering topics from life at work to the “view from the top”, giving readers a circular view of the inner workings of an office, and everything in between.

Forbes

Considering Forbes isn’t specifically a workplace platform, their content is too powerful to exclude from our list. By filtering results under their Technology or Business sections, or simply typing “workplace” into their search tool, you’ll find there are numerous articles covering a variety of topics ranging from millennials in the workplace to employee engagement to how technology is impacting how we work. They also have a solid Careers section, which provides useful strategies for professional development as well.

Gensler

Rooted in market research, Gensler has long been a leader in analyzing the modern workplace. Their blog received a makeover since being featured on our list last year, and the updated blog has been categorized into a series of workplace management related topics. One of the new sections, Gensler on Work, is likely to be a new favorite as it covers company culture, the power of design and office structure to name a few. Their blog also contains pieces that cover their research findings that pertain to individual cities and a lifestyle section. We’re excited to see what their data inspires them to write this year.

Office Snapshots

Office Snapshots gives you an inside peak into inspiring office designs that you may not have had the chance to see otherwise. All the big names are there, like Facebook and Slack, but the blog also features some smaller global design firms and startups who really nailed the workplace game. You’ll be in awe of the gorgeous workspaces featured in this blog, and how each organization took the opportunity to incorporate their company culture into their office design, and increase their employee engagement in the process. You may just take away a few ideas for your own workspace.

Quantum Workplace

Focused around employee engagement and providing a more structured work environment, Quantum Workplace’s Future of Work blog is the perfect resource for organizations looking to enhance the working lives of their employees. This is Quantum’s first time appearing on our list and we wished we had discovered them sooner. Readers of this blog can expect tips on conducting effective performance reviews as well as strategies for using employee feedback. Quantum’s blog covers all the potentially sticky topics every workplace leader will need to face – something we all need to be prepared for.

Thrive Global

After departing from her position as editor-in-chief of the Huffington Post, the brilliant Arianna Huffington has spearheaded a new website, Thrive Global. After enduring her own personal burnout experience from overworking, Huffington made it Thrive Global’s mission to help end the stress epidemic by “offering companies and individuals sustainable, science-based solutions to enhance well-being, performance, and purpose, and create a healthier relationship with technology.” Their articles are truly inspiring everyone to work and live their best life, and you might even notice a familiar face in the community section too.

Workplace Design Magazine
