Happy World FM Day - Facility Managers across the globe celebrate

    Kaitlan Whitteberry

Those who work to maintain facilities contribute to the overall organization, maintenance, and upkeep of office buildings and other corporate spaces. This industry, although essential, can be relatively unknown to those individuals who benefit from it most. Luckily, June 27 is known worldwide as FM Day, as facilities management professionals aim to increase awareness of their industry as a whole.

Many people who work in facilities management are gathering today to celebrate the fifth anniversary of World FM Day - which celebrates the successes of the profession. The core message of this year's event is appropriately titled 'creating, learning, and sharing'. Global FM member organizations from six continents will commemorate the day by hosting various events such as educational seminars, FM workshops and luncheons.

Global FM, for one, is happy to support World FM Day.

"The importance of recognizing the facilities management contribution to productivity, health and safety in our built environment needs to be a key focus," Duncan Waddell, chair of the World FM Day Taskforce, told the news source. "The theme of creating, learning, sharing, is perfect to ensure we place a spotlight on the great work being undertaken in the industry."

iOffice would like to thank everyone in the facilities management community, and encourages you to attend an FM event near you! Check out the Google event map to see what is planned for the FM community in your area.
