Day In The Life Of An iOffice Dog: The Dude
We are so fortunate to have a company culture where dogs are allowed in our office! The "iOffice Dogs" have made quite a name for themselves, and always greet our visitors, clients and mailmen with wagging tails. We've interviewed our pups to get their take on what its like to work at our Houston headquarters.
Name: The Dude
Breed: Yellow Labrador Mix
Department: Security & Pest Control
Supervisor: Nathan Krichel
1). What is your favorite thing about coming to work?
The benefits of the office are great. It sure beats guarding the house all day, BORING! I think the best thing about being here has to be my daily bonus. I get paid in belly rubs!
2). What is your job-title and describe your duties.
My official title is "The Dude", but I do so much more than abide. I run security here, if someone new comes in I'm all over them. You know I can smell fear right? Now I do spend a good portion of my day making sure my dog bed doesn't go anywhere, it's tough holding that thing down all day.
I also have some janitorial duties, I'm constantly cleaning the floor of crumbs and fallen food, such messy eaters these humans are. However, my favorite duty is pest control, have you seen how many squirrels are outside? Somebody has to chase them away!
3). Take me through a quick walk-through of your typical day.
My days are actually pretty complicated, it's tough for a working dog in this world. I usually ride in the back of the truck to work, Nate doesn't trust me to drive yet. When I get there I have to greet everyone, the best head scratchers and belly rubbers first of course. After the general hellos I get to work, there's only so much time in the day and a lot for a dog to do! I get a couple of breaks during the day but for the most part I keep my nose down. After work it's back to the pickup truck and homeward bound.
4). Is there an Alpha Dog?
Lucy is Alpha by far, at least no one has stepped up to challenge her yet. If she doesn't want you doing something, you'll know about it. I'm pretty chill, so I don't mind her much, plus she always smells really nice. I do like when she chases Katie around the office.
5). Name something you've learned since you began working at iOffice.
I've noticed that at about 6pm everyday some guy comes in wearing all blue with a big arrow on his hat. He has been stealing our boxes! Nobody else seems to notice, but I give him a good piece of my mind, but he just keeps coming back.
I have this gift for predicting the weather, when it's about to rain I disappear into the bathroom. So if you don't see me, grab your umbrella!
