Social Media for Facility Managers Series – Post 1

    Kaitlan Whitteberry

This is our first article in our new Social Media for FMs series! Every two weeks we will blog about a different aspect of social media that can benefit facilities managers, and help them stay connected with other FMs, learn about the latest updates in their field, and continue to grow their social network.

This week we will cover twitter chats, sometimes referred to as "tweet chats". These online meetings occur on the social media network, Twitter. A twitter chat occurs when a group of people all tweet about the same topic using a specific hashtag (#) that allows people to read other tweets in the chat. Most of these chats occur weekly or monthly at the same time, and for special events they are held just once.

To join a twitter chat you must first have a Twitter account! Sign up here: www.twitter.com. Then, use the search bar to find other accounts that are similar to you or what you are interested in. You can also use this search to find twitter chats. We have gathered a few chats that we think you will enjoy, just to get you started!
