Halloween is celebrated around the country with kids scurrying from house to house in search of treats rather than tricks, while adults often engage in costume parties. However, it wasn’t always fun and games. The Irish recognized Halloween as a day where the dead walked among the living, and many of the holiday’s notorious symbols date back to witches.
